However, the main characters are his children and their teenagehood problems growing up first in France and then back in the US. Best thing one can say about this movie is that it's...very realistic: as in real life, the action seems about to reach a climax but, finally, nothing happens and things go on without major upheavals, which leaves one somewhat disappointed as the potential of both the characters and the plot were definitely not exploited. This said, while not memorable, the whole affair is pleasant to watch and even recommendable for when one feels mellow.
Didn't like it when I first saw it. Watched it again last night and liked it more.
Brilliant comming of age story. Kris Kristofferson is better off singing but Leelee Sobieski does a great time adjusting to life in the u.s and france at fourteen years old.
So...Different.It Confuses One But It Actually Has Meaning To It.Teaches Some Lessons.A Perspective On Life.I Found It Beautiful.I Loved Francis Fortescue's Character.

point two : emotional - the movie doesn't TELL you what to feel, but it shows you situations, and the ending scene is just brilliant.

But that is much of the charm of this film, as its honest portrait of a family in transition and crisis is full of the sort of tumult and confusion that most of us can identify with.
Weird coming of age movie set mostly in Paris. Not particularly enlightening or entertaining.
Brilliant cast, great drama. Leelee Sobieski should've kept doing films like this.
