Director Bruce Beresford tackled a similar drama in his uncompromising Breaker Morant, but here he's stuck with a script that favors the tepid story of her ne'er-do-well clemency lawyer (Rob Morrow), whose dormant conscience awakens as he champions her case. It's a well-meaning effort undercut by sentimentality (Beresford gives in to the impulse to find the sweet puppy dog behind Stone's feral street-mutt exterior) and the bad luck to come after the similarly themed but superior Dead Man Walking. Give Stone credit for the passion and conviction to make you care anyway. --Sean Axmaker

Sharon Stone did not dissappoint, otherwise a bit more than an average movie.
I'm not that keen on that num3ers guy, and he definately is not impressing me here. Good play by miss Stone and some of the supporting actors. Plot is OK, but it ends a bit too American to me with
good film but it never goes further than that. worth watching for those who enjoy prison related movies.
I have seen this movie only one time a lot of years ago but it produced such great impression on me that I still remember it very well as if I saw it yesterday.
Wow - I was knocked out by the power in this movie. Sharon Stone demonstrates some great acting and overshadows everyone else in this gripping death-row drama. Definitely makes you question the logic of the death penalty and whether to forgive.
Sharon Stone should get a lot of respect for this role.. She was a hard-ass chick on the outside, and so soft and femenine on the inside. She was a hard-ass chick on the outside, and so soft and femenine on the inside. Morrow was okay as well and their relationship grew right before our eyes. It was a touching tale in the end but I think I liked it a lot more than most will. So even though I give it a 3.5, it's probably more like a 2-2.5 for many.
