The plot spends a lot of time running in circles and doesn't always make complete sense, rough around the edges as it is, but the film's light, fun, and compelling enough to be enjoyable, as quickly as the whole experience seems to go by. They got a solid ensemble cast together, led by the always-great Steve Coogan, but I didn't quite feel like anybody was on top of their game in this. The script, direction, and soundtrack are all solid and mesh well, but as a film, it's more of a brief, amusing distraction than anything I could see going back to and watching more than once. If you're looking to kill an amusing 90 minutes, this isn't a bad way to do it.

It's the actors in this film that make it entertaining. Its about people who cheat and a company that facilitates it. It's James Brolin that surprises me in this one. Well everyone does in this film, that is the entertaining part of it. Again a entertaining film from start to finish, why can't hollywood make more of these type of movies that don't take themselves seriously but serious enough to do a very good job on both ends (plot and action). Michael Bay can learn alot from this film.
This could have been a better film. A lot of talented actors have minor parts in this, so I don't understand why Rebecca Romijn got such a big part.
well directed, and great cast, but nobody is playing to their strengths and the tone doesn't sit well. coogan and rebecca romin are good, but only when their not in a scene together.
A clever piece of film-making....certainly a good watch for a Friday evening :) but nothin' more than that...............
I hadn't heard of this movie but it has an impressive cast and intriguing story. I enjoyed it and think that most people would...it's a silly crime caper sorta thing and they do it very well.
Funny, but not that funny. The last half hour is just wonderful but, which is really coming too late.

(read more) Lies & Alibis is a terrific little comedy about a man (Steve Coogan, who is terrific in this film) who runs a lucrative business for cheating men and women. He hires some fresh new talent (Rebecca Romijn) and takes on a job for his best customer (James Brolin) as a favor. The favor is Brolin's son (played by James Marsden) who goes off with a girl before getting married and accidentally kills her. Coogan's character works fast to cover it up, but uses people who are looking for favors in return (Sam Elliot, Henry Rollins). Soon, people are wanting him dead, or wanting favors from him and Coogan is forced to conjure up old habits that he had never wanted to use again. The film is terrific, and very clever, plus there is a HUGE cast of great small-scale celebrities and character actors. I'm surprised this film hasn't gotten more recognition. Watch it!
Light-hearted and entertaining, if a little confusing towards the end.
