A great examination of men's qualms with their wives and vice versa. Classic Woody.
du grand blabla allenien, prise de tête à laquelle j adhere je l avoue.
en outre, le film marque la fin du couple Allen-Farrow et c est sans tendresse ni compassion qu il film une derniere fois son egerie des annees 80.

This is one of those films that was almost buried under by press scrutiny and the gossip mill upon its release. TriStar pushed the movie out into a very wide release because Allen and Farrow were in the process of splitting up.
The movie holds up as one of Allen's best, although the handheld nature of the cinematography is at once what makes it feel so real AND simultaneously makes me seasick at times. Of course, with all the shaky relationships on display in the film, it's perfectly suited to the subject matter.
excerllent and a good lesson for maarried folks woody is one of the few genuis filmmakers of our time
Engrossing, lively, well-scripted, terrifically acted, witty, ironic, and perhaps one of Woody Allen's best works, certainly his best from the 90's.

It is interesting and makes the viewer look at their personal lives including romance, lust, etc. The interactions between the characters are strictly dialogue except for a few scenes; so these characters explain their feelings/emotions through communication instead of the typical love-torn-love story movie. I believe the movie Closer featuring Julia Roberts, Clive Owens, etc was influenced by this storyline (which I like as well after giving much thought of the way love was explained between characters instead of shown, pretty much how I had explained above about this movie).
A movie / documentary about relationships, mainly about flirting, having arguments, breaking up, getting together again - it all becomes a bit tiresome after a while. This isn't Woody Allen's best movie...

Once again, Allen delivers an incredible meditation on the bizzare nature of human relationships. I can't get enough.
Critic Reviews
Husbands and Wives is a defining film for these emotionally embattled times; it's classic Woody Allen.full review
What Husbands and Wives argues is that many "rational" relationships are actually not as durable as they seem, because somewhere inside every person is a child crying me! me! me!full review
