Filmed in Binghamton, New York! With a focus on... wait for it... architecture! What could be more surreal?

Felt very much like one of David Lynchâs later flicks like Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive but maybe a little more stable on the narrative front. Kitchen Sink imagery run amok-Film Noir, Hitchcockian, Polanski madness. The film also made me realize what a shame it is that Kevin Anderson was not able to take roles like this one and the bits in Hoffa and Rising Sun to build a flashbang Nicolas Cage kinda career. Kim Novak might not seem like she has a lot to do as the dying mother but I found her performance to be deeply effective, sometimes terrifying. And I really love how Bill Pullman starts off in one of his evil jerk characters and ends on a much more ambiguous emotional image. VF.
En oo mikään Leaving Las Vegasin fani, mutta tästä pidin kovasti. Omaperäinen ja otteessaan pitävä trilleri, josta tulee parhaimmillaan mieleen jopa Donât Look Now, tai Lynchin säikyttelyt.

A sensual mystery. The acting is subtle and the music is masterful. Pamela Gidley is breathtaking.
Odd. A Thrilling plot, visually great. It had a strange atmosphere that made expect something to happen. There was also something really irritating, I can't say what. I liked it. I liked it not. I liked it.

This was the cutted version. I'd like to know what was cut off. However, this DVD didn't have that scene in extras.
Strange, seductive and mood-driven, this is a beautifully filmed, oblique drama that's difficult to define. A 'love it or hate it' film, I suppose; I thought it was great.
What is Mike Figgis up to these days? Corporate training videos and hardcore porn? Is he ever going to make another movie?
The film's pretentious and self-indulgent nature causes it to sacrifice its story, making the film sluggish, uninteresting, confusing, and annoying.
