Cheesy, gun-crazed action at it's most awesome. Plot, pfft! who cares; money, guns and psychos thats all you need, throw in a few babes and the occasional one liner and its all gravy.

A fun little film. Supposedly, Mean Guns is the first of a trilogy. The second being Left for Dead from Sofia Films. Not sure how they are connected as Mean Guns is a free for all 'Battle Royale' and Left for Dead is a Western with Demons.

Regardless, for a low budget film, Albert Pyun and his crew manage to pull off quite a few nice action pieces... Worth a rental.

This 110-minute abomination is the brainchild of notorious straight-to-video director Albert Pyun, and just like his other Lambert film Adrenalin, it is thin on plot and heavy on Lambert's unhealthy grunting.

Here's the "plot": Ice T runs a mafia-built prison. It's empty. He gathers 100 people inside, and then dumps six tupper-ware tubs of automatic weapons onto them and tells them to kill each other. The end.

Lambert has the easiest role in the history of acting: Being the quiet guy who shoots people well. Of course, C-Lamb fumbles and then proceeds to stomp over this character, portraying him instead as a cowardly asshole and dead-beat dad. Oh yeah, that's the other thing, Lambert brought his fucking kid to the murderfest. He left her waiting in the car, like some kind of old mangy dog. Good going, asshole. No wonder her last line in the film is telling a complete stranger to go murder Lambert. I agreed with her whole-heartedly.

The other strange thing about this crapfest is its setting. Where does it take place? The only addresses they mentioned are in New York City, but I recognized the subway scenes from my neighborhood Metro stop here in LA. Also, the prison appears to be situated on an alien planet with no government or police or traffic but somehow is in the middle of a downtown area. Whatever, this movie was bullshit.

The last detail worth noting is the insanely inadequate development of Lambert's character. He enters the movie with no backstory or name, of course, and only later do you find out his name is "Lou." Yeah, apparently he's a construction worker from Chicago, great name choice. And every once in a while he has a "flashback" to a child in the prison doing something in a red tint. We are never told what this means. Also humorous is how there is one scene where he takes a giant handful of tic-tacs, and describes them as "valium, vicodin, and ritalin." Huh, yeah, definately good call throwing in the ritalin. Maybe that's why he didn't show any indication of the drugs' effects.
