Love and a .45 (1994)
Ann Wedgeworth, Gil Bellows, Jace Alexander
In the tradition of "Pulp Fiction" this action packed film is a cutting edge story of fugitive lovers on a fast and desperate run for freedom. Crazed gangsters, graphic violence and satire galore.

However, I really liked it. It's a fun entertaining flick that kept my interest. Some scenes are really funny, some are really bizarre (such as Peter Fonda talking through an electronic voice box). Renee Zellweger has never looked better. I was very happy to see apperances by Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator) and Wiley Wiggins (Dazed and Confused and Waking Life). It also serves as a nice little early '90s time capsule complete with an excellent soundtrack including Reverend Horton Heat, Mazzy Star, Meat Puppets, Flaming Lips, Jesus and Mary Chain, Butthole Surfers, etc. Love and a .45 is certainly no True Romance or Kalifornia but I really dug it.
For me this is a classic. Same genre as Natural Born Killers/Pulp Fiction, but with a much smaller budget it seems. Anyway, this is a movie that makes me smile, so it can't be bad!!
Not as bad as I thought it would be. Pretty entertaining. Peter Fonda's character while only in the movie for about 10 minutes is hilarious.
Texas modern day outlaws story. Zellweger is nice as is Bellows in their lead roles. Jace Alexander is very villanous. Similar to Natural Born Killers. Pretty good soundtrack. It has a decent script and some fine one liner's, especially from nutball Rory Cochrane (of Dazed & Confused/Empire Records fame). The inexperience of director CM Talkington (who's looks about 12) eventually hurts the film and it's meandering plot. It's a film about a couple on the run from the law so obviously Natural Born Killers, released not long afterwards, is the main comparison. It lacks Stone's energy behind the camera although both Gil Bellows and a young Renee Zellweger are entertaining in front of the camera. An interesting watch but it doesn't really achieve much and won't go down in history as anything more than another Tarantino knock off in a decade full of them.

Characters with names like Dinosaur Bob, Starlene, Thaylene, Creepy Cody and Billy Mack Black, almost make this a black comedy, if it weren't for all the blood and bullets. As it is, the film rests enjoyably between dark humor and serious sociopathic crime and violence.
A lot of fun. Gil Bellows, Renee Zellweger & Rory Cochrane are great...superb soundtrack...features cameos by Reverend Horton Heat, Peter Fonda and others.
More modern Bonnie and Clyde . . . I don't understand the comparisons to Tarantino. Any really violent action film could be compared to Tarantino. It was decent but seemed a little tacky to me.
