Based on the H.E. Bates novel of the same name, this Merchant-Ivory drama stars Embeth Davidtz as a pregnant woman abandoned by her lover who's taken ...(read more...) in by a farmer after she collapses and miscarries her baby. The farmer's three sons vie for her affections, but it's the youngest who restores her faith in love. Their nuptial plans unravel, however, when her old beau returns. Co-stars Tom Bell, Greg Wise and Gemma Jones.
