A great sequel in the children of the corn franchise. Adam Wylie was great.

Kids turn evil and prophetic over the infamous and always mysterious deity known as He Who Walks Behind the Rows. This entry has a slight advantage over the others for its massive array of known and popular talent within the cast including Alexis Arquette (still a male as this stage of his career) as one of the leads, Eva Mendez in an early role that questions why she became to popular, a couple of Zappa young'n's show up, as well as icons David Carradine (as the resident adult mid-level prophet leading the children, Fred Williamson (as the town sheriff who meets a gory demise), and the great Kane Hodder (also the film's stunt coordinator) as a bartender. Most of the people in this die in slightly gruesome and gory deaths, which is nice, but it's mostly the same tried and true fare in this 5th entry to a steadily declining series. I will say this is the last decent one of the bunch.
Why do they keep making these movies?!?! Does anyone actually enjoy these cut-rate horror movies?
With a great cast I have no idea why this movie was so bad but it was horrible. With a great role by Alexis Arquette when he/she was still a man kinda I guess. That part alone was scarier then the entire movie. I liked Carradine small role but c'mon ... (read more) With a great cast I have no idea why this movie was so bad but it was horrible. You can only do so much with cults, kids, and death before the whole thing goes south. Should have stopped after the second installment.
Yawn. By this point in the series, they should really have tried something new instead of just repeating what had already been done in the first four films ad nauseum.
Same note for entire series. I found the acting very lowsy, the story line continues with no end. the concept is good, but not my kind of movie. very lame. This one changes a couple things: a new town and a different way of sacrificing yourself to He Who Walks Behind The Rows. The title sequence is decent, but once the "teenagers" show up it gets stupid. The first death is just ridiculous... a girl randomly wanders away from her boyfriend and begins to collect armfuls of corn. Well, if anything we know not to go into the fields in this series. The second bunch is driving around with a cremated friend, who died from a bungee accident. Whoa. The movie is 83 minutes long, but the only redeeming moments come in the final 20 minutes. The standoff between cult "leader" David Carradine and sheriff Fred Williamson provides the best effects. Eva Mendes (Mendez here) is a nice surprise, but doesn't show the skin you've come to expect from a grieving girlfriend in this genre (although there is a brief upskirt shot in her final scene). The weirdest thing about this movie was seeing Alexis Arquette as a man with a goatee.
A few clichés and the last 30 was really weak. The movie was fairly predictable, and not very scary at all. The thing I liked best was the twist end the last 2 seconds of the movie.
The youngsters in this film are idiots, so the only entertainment comes from seeing them get hacked up. This is lazy, cliched genre film making at its dullest.
