He's a 17-year-old college dropout who moves into a funky old apartment building and becomes intrigued by his wacky neighbors. Mandy Moore plays the self-absorbed actress across the hall, and Run Lola Run goddess Franka Potente is a cranky photographer. The movie has a few surprises (the casting seems to suggest a teenybopper romance for Wood and Moore, but not so fast), although the energy level rarely perks up and it's pretty thin on actual narrative happenings. Wood's tendency toward fantasy is an especially tired device. A furtive sense of humor, plus the big adoring closeups of the highly photogenic leading ladies, provides the low-key interest. Trivia: Elizabeth Perkins plays the hero's irresponsible mom; she was also Elijah Wood's mother in Avalon. --Robert Horton

I really liked it!! I love Mandy Moore and love all her movies. This one was Good. But prob one of my list fav's of hers. There are some weird things that happen here and there in the movie but they made me laugh!
Franka Potente was definitely the only good part of this movie. Mandy Moore is really a terrible actress.

Other than that it was okay but the plot was kind of boring plus Elijah Wood character didn't do much thur out the movie expect write letters to his dad he never did know plus to hang out with his neighbor downstairs too. His other neighbors was more interesting than him to me he was kind of boring. All in all it was a okay movie to see the costars in it than the main character.
This movie doesn't really have much to offer in terms of story, script, or dialogue. The acting was fine, especially Potente was good. The fantasies in the letters were the only interesting part of the movie.
This is a nice movie to watch. Very difficult to find, but I found it on youtube. I saw 9/10's of this movie (with the exception of the ENDING!) but I was really intrigued by this movie, it is unique.
an alright comedy that tries to be serious, and accomplishes it half the time.
priloÄno dobar film o odrastanju. malo me posjetio na Salingerova ''Lovca u žitu''
Nix, de här var inte någon höjdarfilm precis. Det hände inte så mycket och jag tror att jag somnade innan filmen var slut.
Ganske kjedelig, nesten bare dialog. Om hvor hardt det kan være å være 17. Også har han ikke så mye problemer en gang!
