There is truth to that statement, but it's best viewed as a bizarre dark comedy. "Edge" is comprised of hilariously weird performances, and features a scene in which a sex doll obsessed Dennis Hopper is hit by a nunchuck wielding child intent on stealing his gun. Another zany highlight is Hopper's monologue about losing his leg in a motorcycle accident, and debating whether he should pick up his limb or drink the beer beside it, only to have the decision made for him when an ambulance crushes the leg.
AWESOME MOVIE must see one of the best teen movies ever made. Keanu is actually good, I'm not lying but you'll see Dennis Hopper and Crispin Glover light up the screen in great performances! It was originally written by a high school teacher.
Pretty good, in a horribly offensive kind of way. And Crispin Glover is just batshit crazy.

This is a town, devoid of morals, which highlights the characteristics of the '80s darkest qualities, most notably lack of supervision and drug abuse. Keanu Reeves, Crispin Glover and Dennis Hopper turn in unforgettable performances as residents of the chaotic town. After a horrible murder is discovered by the river's edge and one of their colleagues admits to it, they try to cover it up. There are some minor flaws in the film, mostly concerning conflict resolution, however, the characters are so memorable that it makes up for these flaws, delivering a horrifying and simultaneously mesmerizing experience. Undeniably one of the most frightening films I have ever seen, as the residents of this nihilistic environment are so lawless and unpredictable that one does not know what to expect from them. Highly recommended.
Well Crispin Glover is crazy. Keanu Reeves works here because he's supposed to lack emotion. It's actually a good movie. But it's very "look at the poor screwed up metal kids and their lack of depth." Scary to think it's based ona true story. B... (read more) Well Crispin Glover is crazy. Scary to think it's based ona true story. But nothing in this is over the top. It's crazy because it could happen. Worth a watch. Good soundtrack.
Despite Crispin Glover's distractingly hammy performance, this is an almost relentlessly bleak film that examines the post-punk malaise of the 1980s, as a group of friends display a disturbing level of apathy after one of them murders a young girl. Keanu Reeves shines in particular as a youngster caught up in the whirlwind of muted morals.
