Another underrated film with Gary Oldman as a leading part. Bacon gives a career-best performance as the petty thief sent to Alcatraz. The film is heart breaking, viscous and satisfying with a trio of excellent performances.
Typical courtroom movie that alters the truth of the real story. Kevin Bacon gives a creepy and memoriful performance that stay s with you. Christian Slater is charming and passionate while Gary Oldman plays the fantastic bad guy.
Kevin Bacon should have at least been nominated for an Oscar. And make no mistake: Alcatraz was definitely just as horrific as this movie portrays.
EXcellent! One of the best movies of the 90's. How can Kevin Bacon did not get nominated for an Oscar? He did an outstanding job in this movie. I was shocked when I found out that the story is real. Really good movie.
One of the best films of all time ...went to see it more than once . Acting at its best by all .
A must see prison classic about the horrensous treatment of a prisoner at Alcatraz. Kevin Bacon (one of the most underrated actors out there) shines among an all star cast.

More than likely you will forgive the compromises -- the story of Henri Young needed to be told.full review
Slater, who in certain shots looks curiously like Kevin Costner, is an actor with talent, but he is too young for this role, and not confident enough to dial down a little.full review
An example of what happens when a picture has everything going for it except good writing and good direction.full review
