The film follows the story of two teenagers from different worlds--Mark Deloach and Dori Lawrence--as their lives quickly spiral out of control. The rebellious but privileged Mark delves into dangerous antics resulting in a nearly fatal drunk driving accident, and Dori Lawrence, a wild actress and singer slowly loses touch with reality as she suffers from schizophrenia. Forced to straighten out their lives, Mark is sent to join the Marines and Dori is admitted into a mental hospital. In the midst of life's chaos, Mark and Dori are drawn to each other, recognizing their mutual desperation for love and understanding. Despite pressure from both their friends and family to keep their distance, they maintain their bond. While they fail to fix what's broken in each of their lives, they find comfort in each other's faults and have faith that their unconditional love will eventually heal their deep seeded wounds.

I have always loved Rachel Leigh Cook and she shines as the crazy Dorri. I think it is worth a watch.
Cute/sweet in a quirky kind of way. Went in a direction I didn't expect. My first time seeing Rachael Leigh Cook in anything - she was prety good.
Kudos to the actors for doing a great job. Unfortunately the characters felt two dimensional, even more so for the Deloach character after he goes through basic training. I think the story could have gone through a couple more rewrites to polish it up a bit before getting it on the screen.
A really sweet story that isn't your normal love story. I'm a little biased based on being a USMC girlfriend but really very sweet.
Was excellent, but the ending was somewhat sudden to me: seemed like there might be more to tell. Alas. Maybe that's just because I'm a Marine.
Le film a voir. (en VO)
y a pas d action, mais ca m a trop choque ce film ( base sur une histoire vraie).
Je m attendais pas a ca.
A la fin, on sait pas si faut etre triste ou content pour eux.

Stateside plays like urgent ideas for a movie which Anselmo needed to make, but they're still in note form.full review
Anselmo, basing his script on a true story, juggles more plots than a full season of The O.C., setting his cast adrift in a sea of soap-opera bubbles.full review
