Frantic (1988)
Harrison Ford, Betty Buckley, Emmanuelle Seigner
A doctor and his wife go to Paris for a medical conference. While showering, his wife disappears. His lack of language, and the odd way she disappeared makes it nearly impossible for him to find any official help in his search as he enters the punk/drug culture to find out what has happened to her.

first polanski film i cared for. emmanuelle seigner reminded me a lot of people i know.
as somebody put it nicely, a tribute to B-class cinematography. great suspense
captivating idea, but plodding editorial style makes this very difficult to watch
Really liked it. A Harrison Ford movie that I have never seen that didnt suck. Very tense well done Polanski film and a fine performance by Ford.

(read more) Roman Polanski has often demonstrated his ability in making art out of pulp. âFranticâ is a classic example of how a lackluster B-movie story can be turned into a stylish film with skillful directing and a good performance. Harrison Ford is quite believable as a man on a mission to save his wife, traveling into the darker corners of society where he meets criminals and an almost comically archetypical femme fatale. The movie is filled with odd coincidences and goofy plot devices, but it takes itself seriously in just the right way to make it work. The feeling of panic is attained beautifully, making âFranticâ an almost unpleasant experience.
