Douglas and Moore play well against each other. Some things concerning the plot could maybe have been explained a bit more clearly (or maybe I'm just slow), and the Virtual Reality-scenes were not that good, but I still liked the movie.
Passably entertaining yarn about sexual politics but has a misogynist edge to it that's unsettling. Despite initial controversy, much forgotten today.

The book is loads better. Basically the movie removes 95% of the subtlety and subtext and makes the story as cheap as possible. That said, it's still moderately watchable based on the great acting talent involved.

To be fair, who's going to believe Douglas was hit on by a woman clearly half his age.
Soso Crichton flick. Neither great nor bad. The role reversal is a good twist on the sex harassment level and Moore is great as the seductress but overall the film kind of fizzles.
After all that Basic Instinct stuff, people couldn't get enough of the grumpy guy losing his trousers. Dull. Boring. Plastic. And that's just Demi Moore.
Critic Reviews
It is an exercise in pure cynicism, with little respect for its subject -- or for its thriller plot, which I defy anyone to explain.full review
As the poor shlub fighting several battles at once -- all of them against shrewder, meaner adversaries -- Douglas is a complex and sympathetic Everyman.full review
