Brilliant, charming, sexy, and inspiring. This film is a great biopic on a writer who I've admired for years. Stephen Fry IS Oscar Wilde.
This film should have been titled the love life of Oscar Wilde, i'm sure that there could have been much more to this film than what led to his imprisonment but maybe not, I dunno.

Stephen Fry is fantastic as Oscar Wilde, but the film itself is yet another stifling biopic. Apparently very few filmmakers received the memo stating that it's acceptable to make creative and energetic biographical films.

With a great character as Wilde, there should have been enough to choose from, but instead we end up with a rather dull troubled love affair, "spiced up" with some sexy scenes and a boring portray of an everything but boring person. Less focus on sex, more on life and perhaps characters that weren't quite so one-dimentional would've helped.
But Jude Law is almost indecently young and fresh faced. Whatever that is worth.
worth watching for young, hot jude law. oh yeah, and the film is good too.
Fantastic insight into the life of a genius writer masterfully portrayed by Stephen Fry. I found this very moving and sad in equal measure. A powerful social commentary that is also an elegant period piece.
Great biopic based on Ellman's superb biography of the troubled poet. Jude Law is particularly good as the supercilious Lord Alfred Douglas, and Stephen Fry seems born to play Wilde.
pretty good. tepid direction, but the power lies in fry's embodiment of wilde. do i dare? stephen fry was....born to be wilde! oh, that was terrible.
Wonderful acting from Stephen Fry once again, but I much preferred him in Peter's Friends
