The two are competing to hit the same target for a $20-million payoff, and their challenge takes them from explosion to explosion on a cat-and-mouse chase from Seattle to Mexico. Julianne Moore plays the cagey cat fancier and computer hacker who possesses a stolen computer disc that makes her a prime target for bad guys, and Robert Rath (Stallone) is only too happy to come to her defense. Director Richard Donner handles action sequences with adequate flair and has a good time blowing things up. Banderas has fun with the nonsensical plot, and Moore is enjoyable in one of her big-budget mainstream roles. --Jeff Shannon

Sylvester Stallone plays Robert Wrath, an assassin who is just starting to retire, but he wants to do one more job. The "mark" is Julianne Moore, and the rival assassin is Antonio Banderas. That's basically your movie. There is really nothing else to say about the plot except that.
I really did like watching Banderas and Stallone battle it out. I thought it was highly entertaining, and really enjoyable. I mean there was a couple of stupid moments here and there, but overall these two guys did a pretty good job for a film like this.
What I really liked about this movie was the chase sequences. Scenes where Banderas was going after Stallone were so cool to just watch. I really liked it.
The worse thing to come out of this movie is Julianne Moore. Her acting in this film was simply just atrocious. I tried not to pay attention to it, but it was just so bad. That's right I think that Stallone did a better job.
Overall, this movie was really fun. It's certainly not something you would see twice, but certainly something that keeps you entertained.
Hadn't seen this in a while. The only movie that I'll watch with Antonio Banderas in it.
Honestly you can see where this is going. Stallone plays another tough guy with smarts and this time he plays an assasin. Stallone plays another tough guy with smarts and this time he plays an assasin. He is given one last task to assasinate someone unfortunatley someone beats him to the job. A really good villain Antonio Banderas who has the guts to go toe to toe with Stallone. A few action scenes are shown through this film as its Stallone's smart professional tricks against Banderas quick agile shooting. A good film but not one of Stallone's best. Good pair up though between Stallone and Banderas
This is another of those mid-90's action films that I wish my life was like.
Amiable action thriller with a superb turn by Banderas and solid enough work for Stallone and Moore... perfectly engaging but a disapointment coming from the usually superb Richard Donner...
I hate to say I LOVE this movie. Seriously, it's not a smart or clever movie, but I love seeing these two actors (and Julianne Moore) trying to kill one another. Paired with The Specialist and you got two CLASSIC (but dumb) action movies.
If you like to see things blow up for no particular reason and like to watch movies with loopy plots, "Assassins" would be my recommendation to you.
I was a bit dissapointed in this movie, Stallone wasn't very convincing and Banderas was just annoying. Not too bad, but definitely not Sly's best film !
