Snipes and Sciorra are very good as individuals trying to reach beyond the limits imposed upon them for reasons of race, tradition, sexism, and such. Lee makes an interesting and subtle case that they are driven to one another out of frustration with social obstacles as well as pure attraction--but is that enough for love to survive? John Turturro is featured in a subplot as an Italian American who grows attracted to a black woman and takes heat from his numbskull buddies. --Tom Keogh

There was a Spike Lee movie I watched in one of my classes, but I don't remember if it was this one...I think it was...
Bra bra bra,om hverdags rasisme mellom negere(he he) og italenere i New York anno 90 tallet.Og om crackens inntog i ghettoene!! Absolutt severdig!
Spike Lee's interracial relationship movie is very uneven. Although it has some very inspired and classically cinematic sequences amid a sea of subplots and supporting characters.
Love the soundtrack, but it was a bit heavy-handed on Spike's part. That said, Sam Jackson plays possibly his greatest role in this one.

And what was up with that ending?
Spike is very nuanced in his portrayal of people from different backgrounds. Really, just like a Fellini film.

A well made movie that explores the consequences of interracial relationships. This movie also has something to do about racism and discrimination. This is an honest look at the way people can react to interracial relationships. This film is also a good message for some people. Spike Lee has a history of producing pointed, politically evocative films that often spark controversy. Jungle Fever is no different. The film is multi-faceted and does not follow one story line but follows the lives of all kinds of different people who are related to each other or know each other somehow. Now if you think this is a movie and that people in New York are not this racist, race is still an issue in New York City. People will react exactly the way they do in this movie to the mere mention of interracial dating. And while this movie is older now not much has changed in the terms of racial issues.
Funny movie filled with cheesy Stevie Wonder music. Acting is spot-on (especially Samuel L. Jackson and Spike Lee). The main relationship, however, isn't all that interesting as the side plots and it is INSANELY long, but I enjoyed it a lot.
