over 20 years old, this film is still disturbingly effective. Foster is a powerhouse. The relationship between her character and McGillis' is enjoyable to watch as they fight for hard-won justice.
Social-issue films this sensationalistic and manipulative really need a strong central performance if they're to rise above the level of a racy TV movie. Lucky for The Accused, Jodie Foster gives one of the all-time great ones.
Well done movie, with a fantastic performance from Jodie Foster. Sadly, the legal standing, and supporting cast is horribly lacking.
Wow, that's bit strong if anyone would be brave to listen on the base of true story that woman have a courage to tell. Fight em!

I had a bit of an issue with the one moment where the witness kid visits the best friend in prison and suddenly he doesn't want to testify. That was a wrench thrown in just for the sake of adding an obstacle; he testifies anyway so it didn't matter. I screenwriting nitpick, from an otherwise really tight and well-directed story. (I love the aspect of making the victim kind of a promiscuous character anyway- nice touch!) But the horror... Need to take a shower now..
It takes a while to get to the point, but the last 15 minutes are classic. And horrifying.
A truly harrowing film that is difficult to watch. Powerful performances from Jodie Foster & Kelly McGillis.
