Very visual and feels a lot like something Philip K. Dick would muster up. Stunning in every sense of the word and cool to see the little remnants of this film that have been used in George Lucas' Star Wars legacy

Dialogue is minimalist, influence of European and Japanese movies are evident. I love the way the film's minimal certainly and as much is achieved by looks and body language as by spoken words. But what make me praise the film the most, however, is he extraordinary visual strength of the film. Even though it is pretty low budgeted, this film can still create a futuristic world that is completely different to the one in 'Blade Runner', 'Brazil' or 'Children of Men'.

In short, THX-1138 is an effective and memorable low budget film compare to the full of visual effect but plot-wise a fairy tale 'Star Wars' episodes.

Visuellement c'est parfaitement maitrise, le scenario est toujours d'actualite (matrix,etc.). Par contre le film a assez mal vieilli. Passer de ce film au star wars me surprend toujours, mais bon pourquoi pas.

It was a pretty unique movie, I wish Lucas didn't add the computer effects, most were not worth it, except the car stuff. Nudity from the seventies was just not doing it for me either, but overall it was interesting.

It certainly makes one wonder to see Lucas' name on both the script and the director's plaque. This film is actually interesting because not only does it hark back to earlier sci-fi and tries (successfully, in my opinion) to ask some difficult ontological questions; it also does it in a way that's audiovisually stimulating. In fact, the audio, when patched into a loud and dynamic output is marvelous in its ability to try to menace with the listener on a few different levels. Seeing Duvall in this role feels like seeing John Hurt in 1984, and though Hurt's emanciated physique and plenty of dialogue allow him to really build up the persona of Winston Smith, Duvall does a pretty good job given a much more minimalistic field of play. Overall, I was extremely pleased with this film and hope to give it my full attention next time I have a chance to see it.
