One of the best movies from mid 80 to mid 90. I would put this movie in line with such movies like Aliens, Independence day, Terminator ... Bullock and Stalone is perfect actors for this kind of movie.
Been very into Stallone movies lately... plus it has Sandra, so it couldn't be to horrible!
Brilliant fun, probably one of the best most entertaining sci fi action movies from the nineties, and certainly for me Stallone's best (I'm not into boxing....) He's perfectly cast as a cop who'll blow anything up beat anyone down to get the bad guy, in a self parodying kind of way.. Wesley Snipes is awesome and hilarious as the psycho badguy Phoenix, kind of like a south central version of the joker, funny and nasty in extremes. Sandra Bullock does what she needs to and there are some great cameos (did you see Jack Black?) If you stop to look, the film looks fantastic too. Marco Brambilla is a video artist nowadays, and it shows, the future looks glossy and expensive, there's scenes that look like Bladerunner properly, smoke, cool lighting, slo-mo, cool angles... the whole movie whips past at such a furious rate you'd be hard pressed to notice, but I think the quality visuals really passively bring this film up a level. Yeah its a daft, hokey cartoon of a plot but its so tongue in cheek, everyone playing in this knows what's going on, and if you do you'll have a great laugh. Love it.
Surprisingly amusing. I could have done with more of the comedy and less of the over the top macho action, though.
Love the future society and Sandra Bullock (okay Ben Bratt too).
Wes Snipes as super bad man? Not so much.
Denis Leary's monologue -- really just a modified version of his old stand-up shtick -- is the only redeeming part of this otherwise nearly unwatchable movie. I'd rather eat three seashells than watch it again.
Even though I highly doubt society will ever change to that, I still found the concept interestingly portrayed.
I love old 90's movies especially ones with big action stars like Denzel Washington, Sylvester Stallone, or Arnold Schwartzennagor.

Los Angeles, now called San Angeles, is free from violent crimes and sexual contact between human beings. In fact, anything that you would deem a risk to human health at this point in time -- alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, spicy foods -- has been eliminated from society. It's a characterless, law-abiding world.

Demolition Man is sleek and empty as well as brutal and pointless. It feels computer engineered, untouched by human hands. A real pod movie.full review
