Jane's themes are shown so bluntly that it makes it difficult to get around. You have this female senator who is all about equal rights for females, in this case, in the military. Through her powers, she succeeds in getting Lt. O'Neill (Demi Moore) enrolled in the Navy SEALS training program. Everybody wants to see her fail because she's just a wittle girl. Now I would actually go so far to say that I liked this movie: it kept my attention and kept me entertained, and I thought the action and training scenes were all well done; Ridley Scott just flat out knows how to make movies. The only thing that is a real monkey wrench in the gears of the movie is that it's totally feminist propaganda. It isn't all the time, but right when you think that you're out of it, you get another "I can do anything as good as men" speech. I'm all for equal rights and I did actually enjoy this, but man, the feminist tones really dragged the movie down.

I love this movie, unapolagetically! Lots of fun and adrenaline. Anne Bancroft is great too.

Demi Moore goes from stripping to being an all-out badass. Almost. Still, it's a kick to watch a pre-fame Viggo Mortensen.
"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will fall frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself."
Some action sequences, especially at the end, really show the limits of filmaking in 1997. However, the acting is incredible and story feels real. Demi Moore's best work, hands down.

Couldn't understand the army mumbo jumbo, nor was I interested in that scene. You already knew she was going to save the day there, what was the point in paying attention? What was up with the shaky camera bit for special effects then? It never showed her ever getting somewhat weak or emotional even at the end, which doesn't make me feel for her character because that's not human. I only liked watching them go through hell week really.
