This is honestly one of the best films I have ever seen in my life. From the visual look to the film, right down to the heart of it, the film satisfy's everything you could ever want in a horror film. The opening sequence gives a glimpse of the crime, which is intriguing enough, then wqe are taking to the group of friends, which are happy and is a fun scene. The hitchhiker scene is a very gruesome and haunting scene, and plays reference to a scene at the end. The setting of the film is amazing, with the Hewitt house being veyr big, and very haunting just to look at. The visual style of the movie was excellent, giving every scene a brilliantness and beauty. I love how it is very old fashioned, and just how chilling and nail-biting some scenes were. One scene towards the end was so disturbing, where a character stumbles across a trailer with a two woman in it, who are very enforcing in the girl drinking tea. When the pace again picks up, it's definately the most edge-on-seat section of the film, and is absolutely terrifying to watch. The death scenes had heart, and the chase scenes were lethal, and the ending sequence was the final chilling moment that left you wanting more.
The plot is an adaption from the 1974 film of the same name, and in my opinion, this is so much more effective. There is some comical dialogue from one character that is so disturbing and add's to the tension of the film. Every scene was so brilliantly worked, and the tension building was very successful in scaring you later. The fact that we got to know the characters a little made it that much more thrilling, because you were either rotting for them to survive, or hoping they would meet their demise.
The acting was definately a great part to the movie. âJessica Bielâ was excellent as âErinâ, the âfinal girlâ, who was the tom-boy who fought for her survival. Biel was great in making us believe it was happening, and she was great at acting every emotion needed in order for us to believe. âMike Vogelâ and âErica Leehrsonâ were both great at there roles, âLeehrsonâ being a great screamer. âEric Balfourâ played âKemperâ who was âErinâsâ boyfriend, and you immediately felt sad when he met his demise because he was the nice guy, and doing what was right. The âHewittâ family were just the most distrubing family in a movie. âAndrew Bryniarskiâ played the iconic âLeathrefaceâ and excelled in scaring the absolute shit out of you. âR. Lee Ermeyâ was another highlight as the dirty speaking Sheriff, who was just not right. âTerrence Evansâ and âMarietta Marichâ were other aged family members, who were very proud of their family. Two ladies in a trailer were âHeather kafkaâ and âKathy Lamkinâ, who were only in the film for five minutes, but were so weird they stuck out to me.
Overall âThe Texas Chainsaw Massacreâ is excellent, fun, and very disturbing. My rating is 5/5. The film is an absoulute thrilling piece of work. A genuine masterpiece, right down to a tee.

Granted, this is definitely one of the better ones out there as it keeps the general concept and builds some slightly new nightmares on top of it. It's a new take on a classic that warrants at least a few viewings.
"TTCM"'s sleek look (thanks Mr. Bay!) does tend to counterbalance some of the ferocity of the film, its also where the it differs the most from its original, but it allows the film to do a lot of very cool shots and new visual tricks. Which is where Marcus Nispel truly excels. His visual style in this film is both very slick and gritty at the same time, all the while giving us some great memorable shots and some pretty stunning looks. The camera pull that goes through the hitchhiker and through the back window the van is one of those you have to rewind and watch a few times over and admire and his use of light in the film is impressive to say the least. Truly, its the work of Nispel and the clever writing that makes this baby tick.
I also enjoyed the acting in this film quite a bit. It's not your usual over-the-top Horror style we get with a 'slasher' and is actually quite the opposite. It's a very subtle style. The character work is very detailed oriented and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a surprise to me with the cast that was included with the film.
I have to say that there were a few moments in this film that prevent it from being a truly great film. Firstly, I grew tired of watching all of shots of Jessica Biel's lady parts. All right, I get it. She's not wearing a bra and she's wearing tight jeans. I saw it the first three times you showed it. Let's move on. Granted, I know that the general audience for this film is going to love that, but I thought it was weak point in a rather solid film. Also, I wanted the film to help fill in some of the gaps in the 'family' side of the film. I liked the additional characters that were added to the family (the two weird women for sure) but it seemed as though they were left to hanging a bit too much. I wanted a few more subtle hints to structure or relation here and there and I never really got it.
"TTCM" is a great remake in the end and still one of the best out there. I wanted a bit more here and there (and I missed the childish quality to Leatherface that was replaced with menace) but I really enjoyed this take on a classic. It's visually a stunner and the substance almost matches that.
Very slick and modern update on the TCM franchise. Made for those who didn't want to sit through the dated and grainy original.
As much as I hate the fact this exists, I actually enjoy watching it. I know it is terrible, especially compared to the original, but I enjoy it haha.
it was pretty good, had some scary parts, but part was kinda boring and felt like it was dragged on
This remake is actually the 3rd remake...
Chainsaw 3 & Chainsaw A New Begining were also remakes of Tobe Hooper's classic. Oh and a 4th remake is on the way believe it or not.
I was sick to my stomach after this movie. How horrible to think this actually happened in real life, even if a bit different maybe.
