The faces have come and gone from his rear-view mirror: people and places he's long since forgotten--until tonight. Vincent is a contract killer. When an offshore narco-trafficking cartel learns that they're about to be indicted by a federal grand jury, they mount an operation to identify and kill the key witness, and the last stage is tonight. It is on this very night that Vincent has arrived--and five bodies are supposed to fall. Circumstances cause Vincent to hijack Max' taxicab, and Max becomes collateral--an expendable person who's in the wrong place at the wrong time. Through the night, Vincent forces Max to drive him to each assigned destination. And as the L.A.P.D. and F.B.I. race to intercept them, Max and Vincent's survival become dependent on each other, in ways neither would have imagined.

Definitely holds it's own in amongst my all time favorites. Michael Mann can be a true genius most of the time. And this is his finest film to date in my opinion.

He was just a complete 360 from anything I could ever see him in. He changed everything about him from a physical and emotional standpoint. I have no idea why he did not win an academy award for this, maybe he was just too good.
Cukup menghibur!! Permainan memukau Jamie Foxx. Akting Tom Cruise jd antagonis pun gak jelek loh!!! Dengan latar belakang cerita yang hanya beberapa jam saja, film ini cukup berhasil menggambarkan konflik dan intrik yg terjadi.
this is typical lame michael mann rubbish. from the very start i was bored and the film didnt pick up one bit. the cast was good but the end result was very poor
Not a great fan of either of the main actors but this movie was fun to watch.
Solid thriller with a surprisingly good Tom Cruise (well, he is scary anyway, so not much acting needed).
I'll try not dislike the film just because Mr Cruise has the main role, but much that I tried, I couldn't find much else good about it anyway. Tom Cruise displays his best acting chops as the sociopathic assassin. His character's political stream of consciousness rap is hilarious and disturbing. Jamie Foxx steps up as the taxi driver living a nightmare fare. His every man performance is one of his best. The credit for making Collateral special should go to Michael Mann; he knows how to tease the last bit of suspense from a film. The cinematography makes the audience a passenger and witness. Not a great film but well worth the money.

After that promising start, Collateral ratchets down, gradually, to being only average.full review
It's straight-up entertainment, not something to see and then talk about a month later, but definitely something to enjoy.full review
This is a rare thriller that's as much character study as sound and fury.full review
Reminiscent of the orchestrated mayhem of vintage John Woo, this is showpiece kinetic filmmaking.full review
It's too bad that halfway through, Collateral turns into a series of loud, chaotic, over-the-top action set pieces in which the existentialist Mann proves he's lousy at action.full review
Mann hits a new peak, orchestrating action, atmosphere and bruising humor with a poet's eye for urban darkness.full review
Michael Mann is to cinema today what Miles Davis was to music forty years ago: a consummate artist pushing both himself and his chosen art form to new levelsfull review
