this is typical lame michael mann rubbish. from the very start i was bored and the film didnt pick up one bit. the cast was good but the end result was very poor

Not a great fan of either of the main actors but this movie was fun to watch.

Solid thriller with a surprisingly good Tom Cruise (well, he is scary anyway, so not much acting needed).

Jamie Foxx steps up as the taxi driver living a nightmare fare. His every man performance is one of his best. The credit for making Collateral special should go to Michael Mann; he knows how to tease the last bit of suspense from a film. The cinematography makes the audience a passenger and witness. Not a great film but well worth the money.

Reminiscent of the orchestrated mayhem of vintage John Woo, this is showpiece kinetic filmmaking.

It's too bad that halfway through, Collateral turns into a series of loud, chaotic, over-the-top action set pieces in which the existentialist Mann proves he's lousy at action.

Well-cast and well-acted, top to bottom.

Mann hits a new peak, orchestrating action, atmosphere and bruising humor with a poet's eye for urban darkness.
