With all the crazy characters in this film, it makes you wonder what is in the water in Jersey! Amidst all the insanity you will find a perfect portrayal of that time after you graduate college and need to figure out what the hell you are going to do with your life. Screening: Regal Round Lake Beach 18.
Just watched it again. Not sure why I only gave it 4 1/2 stars the first time. It is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.
Not as good as I thought it would be. It was a bit slow at times. I can see why it's popular though.
a re-watch. when i first saw it six years ago, i loved the music + characters but HATED the ending. it felt completely out of place, rushed and very Hollywood-y. it still feels a bit random and cliche, but i respect the characters choice now.
Oh! One of my favourites. Thank you forever my dear sister Sally for showing this to me!
Godd film and Zach Braff from Scrubs surprised-me.
It´s a bit melancholy too. EXCELLENT soundtrack. The Shins, Nick Drake (yeah!) and others.
The photography is pretty good too.
interesting plot, story based on a guy's apathy... that ends with a cute love story... sensational /surprising natalie portman, that even being a beautiful woman in real life could made me feel like the perfect partner for the main character...
Yeah, I dont get why so many people find this movie "AMAZING"... I like some of the quotes and some of the actors... but really....
This movie has gotten better with repeat viewings. Braff shows great potential as a director and Natalie Portman gives a charming performances.
Critic Reviews
His movie is sweet-natured and skillful, but its biggest problem is perhaps one Braff wasn't prepared to deal with: his own performance -- or, more accurately, the decision to place a deliberately flat performance at the film's heart.full review
It has an askew sense of humor that's grounded in honest observation.full review
It's smart and unconventional, with a good eye for the perfect detail.full review
A compulsive liar and non-stop chatterbox, Sam (Natalie Portman) is hands down the most appealing character in "Garden State," and Portman runs away with the movie.full review
Braff, and Garden State, give it the old college try, and at least some, if not all, of the sparks catch.full review
Poignantly portrays a detached man who decides to tackle life -- with all its pain, joys and everything in between -- with his eyes open and his head clear.full review
It's a hilarious and heartfelt ode to twentysomething angst.full review
