He's still doing all his stunts and all the crazy stuff in this one. He jumps off everything, he climbs up everything (holy spit, he climbed up a palm tree against a wall in two seconds! maybe I'm exaggerating), he fights or not-fights with everything (ladders! shirts!), and he did it all waaaaay before hottie mc-hot-hot Jason Statham! Cute little story, no biggies to get hung up on. Just fun stunts and a corny story to frame them in.
Again, it's the stunts and the physical comedy that make a great Jackie flick.
Incredibly daft yet enjoyable actioner, the highlight being a high speed fight which involved a step ladder.
As we can expect fro Jackie Chan, the action is phenomenal. This has two amazing fight scenes in it, one involving a ladder which Jackie uses as a weapon, and the other in an aquarium with a hungry shark patrolling.

The biggest flaw of the movie is that the action doesn't mesh well with the plot. By that I mean: There isn't much plot. It has something to do with a stolen nuke. But really, how many movies use that as a macguffin? Every other action movie. I was so glad that Star Trek used black holes.
But we can really just forget the plot and be entertained by the spectacle. It's more than worth it.
Why does this have a number 4 in the original title if its the first strike?

The US release cut about 20 minute of pure action out of its release -- why -- cause Hollywood is stupid. For every fight scene imagine them twice as long and twice as awesome. The shark fight underwater at the end is twice as long in the Hong Kong version. There's an action scene as good as the ladder scene in every action; but you wouldn't know it watching the US version. Do yourself a favor and seek out the Hong Kong version of First Strike -- and witness one of the best action/comdies made in the 90's. Really/truly GREAT!
Not a bad Jackie Chan flick, but it was lacking in awesome fight scenes. The only really memorable part for me was Jackie fighting with a ladder. Everything else is sort of ho-hum.

Of course, the real excitement of this Police Story installment is to see Jackie's stunts and fight scenes, and this film has got them! The ladder fight is probably the best part of First Strike, with the snowboard scene coming in a close second. In the end itâs a Jackie Chan film, so of course itâs entertaining, and while itâs not his best film, itâs still fun.
Low-Budget & Hillarious Voice-Over Dubbed Script. Often Funnier To See How Asian Culture Views Western Ways & Their Ad-Hoc Blast & Judo-Chop Work It All Out Solutions. Ha! If Only! Great Stunts!
