If you've watched Chan's Hollywood movies (Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon) and been unimpressed, The Accidental Spy is a good introduction to the astonishing fights and extraordinary stunts that make Chan's Hong Kong films such events. Chan plays an exercise-equipment salesman who turns out to be the missing son of a Korean double agent who's connected with drug lords in Turkey who have developed a super-addictive opium--got all that? The plot is largely nonsensical, a series of implausible escapades that frame the action; but what the movie lacks in logic, it makes up for in spectacle, ranging from a burning runaway truck cascading off a bridge to a stark-naked Chan pursued by thugs in a Turkish bazaar, defending himself with every implement in sight. This is why Jackie Chan is the biggest movie star in the world--check it out. --Bret Fetzer

Awesome Jackie Chan movie, one of the better. A bit from here to there but still the plot is well played. Incredible truck action scene! Jackie is still the stuntmaster!great!
Rather typical Chan entertainment, so you know what you're in for from the start. Wonderful if you have the chance to see the dubbed version, where everyone speaks English with an accent. Interesting: the scene with Chan covering his nudity.
Lots of exciting action set pieces, surrounded by a lame story and plot. I watched the longer 108 minute Hong Kong version instead of the cut US, and I'm guessing this movie could have been a lot worse. A decent outing for Jackie, but its in the void... Definitely not the best Jackie Chan. Nobody expects too much sense in such a movie, but there is neither enough Jackie Chan action to compensate that.
Meh, it was alright; same old formula as most Jackie Chan movies though, but you still have to love the guy!

Some James Bond rip-off's most notably the vastly lesser quality opening sequence and the introductory song which is so close it evokes the James Bond theme everyone knows. Normally Chan's action sequences are pretty awesome, and while there is still some action left in Jackie Chan, the magic is gone and the good parts are few and far between in this particular movie. This one is forgettable even though the final scene sets it up for a sequel.
