Have you ever met that person, and were you able to overcome the resentment in your heart that having to perform and be untrue has created?

Those visions of what could be, we all have them, have betrayed us. But what if one day it came knocking on your door? The chance to show your faith.

Ugh. Talk about cheesy romances. I still can't figure out why I sat through it. I kept hoping it would end in suicide and hopelessness, but I guess it's too optimistic a film to be that kind. I kept hoping it would end in suicide and hopelessness, but I guess it's too optimistic a film to be that kind. As it is you're just forced to watch two really attractive people find eternal happiness together, knowing you'll never have any of that. However, the very last line, if you wait around until after the credits, where Fraser tells his friend in an argument, "What do the movies have to do with real life?" kinda made it all better for me, and I'm adding a half star to my rating just for that. Still, it didn't fix the sickening soundtrack with those annoying chimes that go off whenever someone has some sort of romantic epiphany, or creepy storyline we're all supposed to be so involved in. Blech.
From a production standpoint, there's some really beautiful photography to be had, which is nice, but the acting is a huge disappointment, especially given how great an actor Fraser is. Go watch Annie Hall or something instead of this, it'll be a better use of time and present a much more realistic and likable couple.

I use "quirky" a lot in reviews, but I think that speaks more to my taste in films than lack of vocabulary, lol. This film is delightfully quirky while still digging deep to crack our most cynical emotional barriers. Gorgeous cinematography and score. Well worth dusting off from it's semi-rental-inventory anonymity and passing on to others to appreciate.

(read more) I'm gonna tell you something, to me this is an overlooked little big tiny cinematic treasure of pure unadulterated, love .....I am telling you this little gem will have you believing that miracles do and still can happen, and that not everyone has to stay f**** up forever if they don't want too; And that people like the character Brendan Fraser (so pure, simple and gooood in this) play can and do exist with in everyone of us....if we just get rid of all the bullshit and act like normal f***** people that don't hide behind created issues and weird complicated blocks that we have manifested and perpetuate in ourselves to keep us weak, tired, and lonely. This movie will help you ease up a bit and believe that you too will find the willy wonka chocolate bar (kay diff muvie but you get idea) and futhermore this movie could make you sick. In that case, you have way more issues than any of us can handle. RENT IT....and get back to me.
