Van Der Beek is a young recruit out to avenge his family, who were shot down by bandits; Dylan McDermott is the loose cannon commander of the Texas Rangers unit that's out to track those bandits down. Along for the ride are Kutcher, Usher Raymond, Robert Patrick, Randy Travis, and a host of other good-looking young actors. Rachael Leigh Cook provides some assurance that everything is appropriately heterosexual, though a scene in which Kutcher jumps into a washtub with Van Der Beek may raise some eyebrows. Head bandit Alfred Molina grins with nonchalance as his men gun down innocent bystanders. No one in the cast even attempts to speak with a credible Texas accent, but everyone's hair is exquisitely mussed. --Bret Fetzer

Came out around the same time as American Outlaws, and it was WAY better, but that might just be because I hated the way American Outlaws bastardized my Jessie James.
Haha! I watched this on tv, friday night movie. I really liked it, but then again, I just love westerns!
Not as awful as it sounds but cannot really be taken seriously with a cast of TV teen dramas headlining it. Don't get me wrong it was enjoyable enough but if you are going to watch a western watch a decent one.
James VanderBeek, Usher, Ashton fucking-Kutcher and I swear I saw James Marsden in one scene. I haven't seen a movie with so many actors famous for their HORRIBLE acting skills but looking "good" since the last porn I watched. What a piece of shit. ... First of all, I love the obvious lack of accents that all the characters had. The Texas rangers were apparently from all over the country as these men's dialogue say. Of course Usher is cast as the cool black guy with no development or dimension beyond one liners. How utterly lame.
Horribly bad acting, horrible writing; horrible movie.
I loooooooove Dylan McDermott in this movie!!!Leander McNelly-wonderful character,true man,great lider... bitter and mercyless sometimes...Not a superhero,but a man.
This 21st Century Western has action by the bucket load but is rather deficient on plot.
There are plenty of good names in this film and, with the exception of Randy Travis, they fail to live up to expectations. There is a lot of riding back and forth and plenty of shooting bottles and cans but not too much in terms of interesting story... Western for the MTV generation - too many teen-friendly actors in this for it to be credible, and the hokey script and generally poor acting don't help.
