This is on another level of bad, it is one of the worst game to film conversions, it is a shame as the effects are very good but it is all totally spoiled by the terrible script, over acting and wafer thin plot. Very disappointed!
I used to enjoy the WING COMMANDER video games in the '90s when they came out, but I was never a big fan of Prinze or Lillard, so I suppose I was predisposed to dislike this schlocky mix of The Last Starfighter and Top Gun. Directed by Chris Roberts, the video game's creator, it's a rare example of the person responsible for a successful universe moving over to recreate it for hollywood on film.
And falling flat on their face. The Kilrathi aliens that humans are fighting are one of the most amazingly muppet-y villains ever. When they're revealed, it's almost a Plan Nine from Outer Space moment. Add to that the boring dross about Prinze being part 'pilgrim' (so other pilots don't trust him) and giving him Lillard to emote with/off of, and you have two hours of cheap-looking space combat where you can't root for the humans OR the aliens.
Ha nem szeretném a sci-fi -t azt mondanám hogy szar, de mivel szeretem Ãgy egész jó volt :)
Crap... but in a good way... ok.. not a good way.. but not completely bad either...

These actors, alas, are at the service of a submoronic script and special effects that look like a video game writ large.full review
