He's also a millionaire. That's why his family is trying so very hard to get into his good books. They all want a piece of his empire. Unfortunately Uncle Joe isn't as stupid as his family thinks he is. He can see that his family is only nice to him because they want his money. Along comes Daniel McTeague, a struggling bowler, imported from another city by his family, to put an end to this ridiculous situation. The fight won't be easy, though, because the poor family has a little bit of competition - A beautiful nurse who takes care of Uncle Joe (and no doubt would love to take care of his bank account). Who gets all the money?

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! It's so funny! Showcases great performances from Michael J. Fox, Kirk Douglas, and the great Phil Hartman. This is a movie that covers greedy family members fighting over money and the struggles of integrity Michael J Fox goes through. Great family fun with a good end. If you haven't seen it, well, you need to. You cannot predict the ending to this movie!
A strong ensemble cast and some memorable lines and moments make up for a few predictable turns. Michael J. Fox and Kirk Douglas are in top form while Phil Hartman steals most of the scenes he's in. (read more) I didn't see anything with Michael J.Fox for a long time until i saw this one, i thought this would be another flop like some of his other films like Doc Hollywood or that other one where he was a casting man for commercials. The story with this one is there is a big big fmaily who have a very rich uncle called uncle Joe, who is completley self obssessed and unlike the entire family is not greedy. The whole family is out to get Uncle Joes money evne if it means killing him in his sleep, but they can't succeed not when Joe brings in a new british chich with whom he intends to give the money to. Looking for some help the family call upon a long lost relative Daniel McTeague played by J.Fox who's a bowler who hasn't had much luck until he gets the call and takes it after hearing how rich uncle Joe is. But as Uncle Joe spends time wth Daniel they become attached and Joe changes his will so Daniel can have the inheritance. Which makes the whole family turn against him now, even the british chic. It's Greedy, it's outrageous at some points, you can't help but cheer as you see Phil Hartman get his butt kicked in this film, and Kirk Douglas as Uncle Joe is a ball to watch he is so annoying and it's no wonder the whole family despise him secretley. It's funny and not a Michael J.Fox flop after all
this movie was a huge surprise for me. wonderful cast, and a great scripts
There was a lot of good things about this film, especially since it was a Broadway play before hand. If you think of it as more of a narrative driven film, it's much more entertaining.
I really loved this comedy about a family kissing up to their rich uncle just so that they can inherit his fortune.
