I don't always like Charlie's character, but it's a really cute movie.
When I first saw this movie on holiday in America in 1997 (as a European I'm not likely to see it legally anyways on DVD as it was never released in region 2).

I thought it was really funny, so I wondered why I when I recently watched it thought it was a made for TV movie of so so quality, I remember now I grew up.
the film is nice , its a film that you (as I did) could take with you and watch with your granddad when spending the day with him.
the films premise is that 2 old guys that should know better get on a boat to pull 'girls' well women of a age similar to them but to afford it he has to work on the cruise.
however only one of them knows this and lemons character doesn't realize that to pay for the trip he has signed them up as dance hosts.
Matthau in my opinion was a comic legend and will be greatly missed and is exceptional mostly with wordplay and facial expression , lemon is more engaging with his characters but isn't as funny. However together they are well legendary with a screen partnership spanning decades , this wasn't there best though.
Hilarious! Better than either "Grumpy Old Men" movie, and Lemmon and Matthau's best latter-day pairing. They only made one more movie together, the rather forgettable "Odd Couple II." They have a blast, and so do we!

I like how the annoying guy gets it in the end, but not much redeeming value otherwise.
It's always a pleasure to watch these two actors in action but the story is just not enough and the laughs are not consistent. Brent Spiner is quite funny as the entertainment director.
The boys are back at it. I can't believe it took me this long to watch this. Matthau and Lemmon are a comedy team for the ages. This movie was not on the same level as the grumpy movies, but had some great laughs anyway.
I never get tired of the Lemmon/Matthue combo, even when they play new characters you still feel as if you know both of them so well. I guess it's partially because they play similar roles when they're together, but that's beside the point.
This isn't a masterpiece of cinema, but worth watching to see Lemmon and Matthau in their penultimate film together. If you ignore the romantic rubbish, the film is rather funny - watch the end credits and you'll see some hilarious out-takes too,
Basically Grumpy Old Men 3 but if you like Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon's chemistry then you'll enjoy this.
