I really like Fanny Ardant...she's got the stuff! Jeremy Irons's performance was very believable. Any movie directed by Franco Zeffirelli is worth watching!

I was nterested in Calls life and this movie it' good point of departure...but it's not so excellent even if Fanny Ardant plays very well Maria. I don't know...

I thought it was a a poignant story, beautifully told and multi-layered...full of lessons on love, life and loss. Also, Fanny Ardant shows true class. Callas, as portrayed by Ardant, must have been the original Diva.

Also this film has a scene of Fanny Ardant walking in the streets of Paris. She does nice job as Callas but script is not super convincing.

I do sort of wonder why Ardant makes such a big deal of not having studied Callas' master classes and filmed performances in the bonus material--but perhaps it's a diva thing? Either way, much enjoyed.

Beautiful film and an interesting point of view from Zeffirelli. I wish Madame Callas was still around for me to see her live in concert, or maybe it would have helped if I were born 50 years earlier...?
