A perfect performance that transcends conservative quibbling. A lovable drunk? Drinking and cackling while DRIVING on a freeway? Yep. By turns hilarious and touching. Ricky Gervais turned down the option to remake. Good man.

Nutty and crazy comedy that makes alcoholics hillarious!

My all-time favorite COMEDY ... a stellar cast ... Liza Minnelli was so belivable as Linda ... and her Dad in the film was hysterical ... but the showstopper was Sir John Gielgud as the butler Hobson ... does he need to wash your back for you?

Dudley Moore is one of my favourite classic comedy actors, His skits with Peter Cook were priceless especially the then underground record "Derek and Clive."

This is one of the films that broadened his attention to a main stream audience.

This film is priceless and deserves a remake or reboot but I'd be stuck who to cast because Dudleys performance was solid, Lots of the lines were improv and there were many gaffs though the film but you can see Dudley and Liza having a great time in the film.

A lot of the dialogue exchanges are priceless from Dudley as Arthur and there are too many quotes I like from the film.

I also love John Gielgud's performance as the butler/father relationship dynamic with Arthur and he always had a witty or dry humorous remark from everyone.

The plot is basically rich social standing and the arranged marriage (basically social climbing) and they want Arthur to marry the daughter of another millionaire. Arthur spends his life being a drunk playboy and he meets a woman who steals a tie and is basically a real person who he loves and who loves him as person and not the money.

It's a great plot, perfect comedy, the only thing i think that this film lacks is Direction as it seemed as if everyone either throws an adlib or a gag which is ok in some films.

This is a great movie but seems pretty dated by todays standards and should be considered to either be rebooted or remade.

I have rough ideas who to cast for most of the roles but I can't see who'd realistically play the modern day Arthur Bach.

The film puts you through a rollercoaster ride as its a comedy/love story/drama dynamic which works pretty well.

The only reason this film doesn't get the top rating is the film seems to have some gaffes and a lack of direction but it generates laughs when ever I watch it.

The two best scenes that stick out are the "Perrys Wife Scene" where he knocks on the door at a house, looking for Linda.
The other scene that sticks out is the exchange between Arthur, Linda and Hobson just after the tie theft where Hobson makes all the intelligent and posh wise cracks, "Steal Something Casual" and "I see know reason for prolonging this conversation unless your planning on Knocking over a fruit stand later this afternoon."

Infact theres hardly any special effects in this film and is pretty much comedy driven, the humor is pretty witty and intelligent, this film needs more recognition.

Arthur is a instant classic. A film that doesn't rely on CGI or too much swearing, explosions or NE of the typical movies that Holywood seems to crap out these days due to big budgets.

I would personally propose a remake of this. Infact if i was given a Huge Budget and I could cast anyone who i wanted for the film or give a film a deserved remake this would be the film I would love to direct, cast, re-script and even cameo or act in if I was given the chance.

So Arthur in my opinion is a near perfect film and even if I re-made it I'd still like the original even thought I'd give it a modern makeover. This is a classic movie :)

I still laugh EVERY time I see it. Dudley at his best!

Very funny, and then quickly gets kind of bizarre, but still, lines like "I'll alert the media," are classic.
