Good follow up to the first movie, which introduced us to the series and let us meet our mutant protagonists. Look at that media terminology there!

It was extremely corny and relied much more on special effects and laughs. I just don't understand the need to make comic book adaptions funny, they are very capable of being serious. The music and slow motion was a complete failure and just didn't fit.

Just a little worse than the original, which isn't that bad of a move.
This is such a brilliant film. Better than the first one, double the action. Great cast. I love this movie. The best out the the x men triology.

(read more) Second movies are without fail either the best or the worst of a trilogy and X2 is definitely the best of the X-Men series. This is in every way how a sequel should work; expanding and deepening the themes of the first, heightening the stakes, and introducing new characters without neglecting the originals. X2, thankfully, was not exclusively about Wolverine and each hero and villain is given a turn in the spotlight (even in brief like Colossus and Shadowcat). The new characters, especially Nightcrawler, who adds both heart and darkness, feel thematically consistent and not like popularly forced additions. If there is a knock on X2, beyond the inherent faults of superhero movies, it's the criminal under-usage of Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike, but that's relatively minor given all that works. Of course, what made the first two X-Men movies good was the appreciation Singer brought to his direction. His love and reverence for the source material and characters is displayed in every scene, and absent when he isn't in charge.
this was my favorite of the x-men series -- the characters were mostly developed and we got to see actual plot -- and more importantly, usage of mutant powers :)
Critic Reviews
A wonderfully populated adventure, with the franchise even more compelling the second time out because of our familiarity with the characters.full review
Overplotted, a soulless maze of special effects and relentless action.full review
This snazzy sequel to Bryan Singer's comic-book smash X-Men is sleek and sexy, filled with delicious characters and effects. Just don't compare it to the original.full review
It succeeds pretty well in rising to the challenge that most sequels face: how to give the audience more of what it responded to the first time while feeding its appetite for novelty.full review
