Once again Hitchcock directed a fantastic thriller. There was so much good build-up in this with lots of suspense. A great ending wrapped this up nicely.

I love this movie. A Hitchcock classic. He returns to the one-room location, but the amazing thing about this is that it's almost all one continuous take. There is perhaps five cuts in the entire thing, and they're all masked. Definately a must-see.

a very tense thriller. It takes place in one room and in real time and yet it never gets boring. It's not one of Hitchock's big famous movies, which is a shame because I loved it.

Great concept. Start to finish in one single shot (not really, but, for all intents and purposes). Damn fine Hitchcock flick.

The lack of many cuts does not work as Hitchcock suspense works best when there is that cut to emphasize longer stretches of film. Not to mention I don't think the camera always get the close ups correct for the right feeling. Aside from that everything else is top notch that fits in perfectly with Hitch's obsession with the nasty and disturbing. By the end when colors are flashing and we await the demise of the characters there is an understanding that we, the audience, embodied by Stewart's character are just as bad as the main two involved in the murder. Knowing that they killed their colleague and seeing them get away with it as far as they do we forget how horrible they are and want Phillip to shut up before he blows the thing. Overrated for the most part in technical praise, underrated for the quality of characterization and story.

Fast-paced, interesting with an original theme! It felt as if I was in a theater and that's always a good thing!

A direction lesson for anyone interested! The non-stop filming and the camera moves work perfectly and James Stewart is charming as always, I was sorry it didn't last longer...

Honestly I spent most of the movie watching the cityscape through the windows (which looked fantastic, by the way).

Due to being shot in supposed real time with the reel changes cleverly concealed there are no fancy edits or camera angles and thus comes across very stagey. However it is still a very good character piece with some interesting themes.
