But one night, on his evening ride home, he looks up to see a beautiful woman staring through the window of a dance studio. Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train and signs up for dance lessons--and his whole life begins to change. Now, he's entering a world he never imagined--the colorful world of competitive ballroom dancing. It's a place filled with grand passions, bitter rivalries, great friends and strange couples and it's about to reignite the excitement in John's life--not to mention the lives of his family, dance instructors and fellow classmates--in ways he's never dreamed.

Attempts at giving complexities to the film's characters are way too heavy-handed to be taken seriously; and the film's ending really takes away from the structure of the first two acts. Ah! Richard Gere! Ah Ah Ah! Richard Gere dancing! Definitely worth a watch if you find Richard Gere very very hot even if Jennifer Lopez comes off as a stuck up pain in the wrong end and talks in an annoyingly soothing voice.
for the love of god just watch the original (if only because it doesnt have Richard Gere in it)
a typical chick flick... with a predictable plot and not big performances. But a good company for the days, you stay at home lonely.
sweet romance... great dancing... I've watched this again and again just for the dancing sequences... makes u wanna take up dancing classes...

Although Peter Chelsom (the director) had already made a good balance between following the original & adapting (especially the pacing), the flick still feels kinda tedious actually.
Not worth your time, energy, or brain cells. Nothing about this film seemed real.
