After pulling off an amazing gold bullion heist from a heavily guarded palazzo in Venice, Italy, Charlie and his gang -- inside man Steve, computer genius Lyle, wheelman Handsome Rob, explosives expert Left-Ear and veteran safecracker John Bridger -- can't believe it when one of them turns out to be a double-crosser. Now the job isn't about the payoff, it's about payback! Enter Stella, a beautiful nerves-of-steel safecracker, who joins Charlie and his former gang when they follow the backstabber to California, where they plan to re-steal the gold by tapping into Los Angeles' traffic control system, manipulating signals and creating one of the biggest traffic jams in L.A. history!

An okay (but still moderately fun) heist film. The original is better, and Norton delivers probably the most disinterested performance of his career, but it's not a bad movie.
Have you seen the 1969 verssion? Really? than how can you watch this shit?! i seen it in wron order (first this than original) so taht excuses me...
Call it what you will, The Italian Job is still one of the most fun movies I've seen, and only because the excitement and revenge never gets old.
Critic Reviews
A tricked-out remake of a heist flick that was already flat and formulaic in 1969.full review
A pandering, debased, generic little nothing of a movie. And I'm still trying to figure out why I loved it so inordinately.full review
This is pure entertainment but smart entertainment, plotted and executed with invention and humor and acted by a winning cast radiating good-movie energy.full review
This is just the movie for two hours of mindless escapism on a relatively skilled professional level.full review
Small and steady, it wins the race with brains, not brawn.full review
The Italian Job zooms along with confidence, smarts, and some of the coolest car chases this side of the Indy 500.full review
Like Norton's unbelievably dull villain, the film has about as much imagination as a Mini has trunk space.full review
