The once-great kingdom, watched over by a fading steward, has never been in more desperate need of its king. But can Aragorn answer the call of his heritage and become what he was born to be? In no small measure, the fate of Middle-earth rests on his broad shoulders. With the final battle joined and the legions of darkness gathering, Gandalf urgently tries to rally Gondor's broken army to action. He is aided by Rohan's King Theoden, who unites his warriors for history's biggest test. Yet even with their courage and passionate loyalty, the forces of men--with Eowyn and Merry hidden among them--are no match for the enemies swarming against Gondor. Still, in the face of great losses, they charge forward into the battle of their lifetimes, tied together by their singular goal to keep Sauron distracted and give the Ring Bearer a chance to complete his quest. Their hopes rest with Frodo, a tiny but determined hobbit making a perilous trip across treacherous enemy lands to cast the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. The closer Frodo gets to his final destination, the heavier his burden becomes and the more he must rely on Samwise Gamgee. Gollum--and the Ring itself--will test Frodo's allegiances and, ultimately, his humanity.

Its sad that we will never get to visit this world again or spend anymore time with the characters that we have grown to love over the past few years but all good things must come to an end. Peter Jackson and the crew have created a truly perfect film that will live through the ages and stand as a firm example of how to create an epic masterpiece. 10 years ago, who would have thought that an unknown director and a bunch of at the time unknown actors would make such an impact on cinema. I know I didn't.
And so with this final installment of the trilogy, all comes to an end. We get closure to all that has been building and growing and for that, you've got to love this one. We get closure to all that has been building and growing and for that, you've got to love this one. This final film of the trilogy is the most epic, battle wise. The battle scenes are on such a large scale and are really very entertaining to watch. I love the sort of competition between Gimli and Legolas in seeing who can kill more enemies. I especially love when Legolas takes down a giant, elephant like mammoth all by himself and then afterwards smirks at Gimli, only to have him respond, "That still only counts as one!" The tension builds as Frodo and Sam draw nearer to the heart of Mordor and to the conclusion of their quest. You can feel the weight and burden of the ring growing heavier and heaver and then the relief once it's finally all finished and the fight over Middle Earth has been won. This installment has another of my favorite scenes in which Pippin sings his very haunting tune "All Shall Fade" whilst the battle of Minas Tirith goes on in the background. Upon the ending of this movie, you almost feel yourself exhaling a sigh of relief that it's finished and that all can finally return to the way it was meant to be. It's a fantastic conclusion to a very epic trilogy and as I said in my review for Fellowship, I know Tolkien would be proud.
