Anywho, I like the movie, it was a nice change of pace from the movies I usually watch. The acting is good, I don't know if the actors sang songs of the movie but I think they did. The music is great, there is some catchy stuff, some not so much. But it all sounds good. Over all I liked it, and I would watch it again.
I have never seen the story of phantom of the opera, so I thought this was really good.

In transcribing the play to a screenplay, Schumacher makes maximum use of the medium and outstanding special effect sequences makes the jump from stage to screen well worth it.
Emmy Rossum should be a bigger star, but even she can't save this film in the end. Gerard Butler is not menacing enough in his role and he cannot sing well enough to carry these tunes. Gerard Butler is not menacing enough in his role and he cannot sing well enough to carry these tunes. There are only two reasons to watch this movie: 1. Emmy Rossum, and 2. the amazing set design. It's a shame it wasn't a better film because it's great to look at.
I absolutely loved the rock voice of the Phantom and felt sorry for the guy, I felt his melancholy. Other than that I thought the movie was too long and boring.
Love the musical, not sure how the movie would be. Don't think any actor could possibly top Bob Guest, who was our Phantom of the Opera.
Good Cast, Very Good Adaptation of Webber's Phantom of The Opera but I like the Stage Musical Better!

Deserves to be locked up in a dank, water-filled dungeon and left to molder.full review
The plot is impressively free of anything that does not smell of unpasteurized melodrama.full review
Takes everything that's wrong with Broadway and puts it on the big screen in a gaudy splat.full review
It's a shamelessly over-the-top wallow in romantic obsession, and a thoroughly enjoyable one.full review
Schumacher has bravely taken aboard this dreck and made of it a movie I am pleased to have seen.full review
A flamboyant failure, unwilling and/or unable to open itself up to anyone who wasn't totally in love with the show already.full review
The screen version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical lacks both authentic romance and the thrill of memorable spectacle.full review
On its own terms, the film is just about perfect. Viewers who accept it on those terms will be swept away.full review
I'm more inclined to suggest that it be used to entertain the prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo -- at least until Amnesty International gets wind of it.full review
