Each scene made me vibrate; each scene was a joy to watch. The story is stunning, dark & moving, the music... wow! Good heavens! Magical! And the cast was wonderful, specially Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson! Gerard Butler seemed, however, a rather wrong choice for the role of the Phantom - his voice was terrible and he hadn't the magnetism to play such a sexy, mysterious character. This was a brilliant show to my eyes, each scene was visually stunning and the end was heartbreaking. Don't miss this great piece!

Ever since my best friend made me listen to The Phantom's soundtrack I've been come addicted to this story. Joel Schumacher wasn't my favorite director but he has taken the play and transformed it in to a visual masterpiece. The cast is superb and the songs really are works of art. The Phantom of The Opera has a strong recommendation of a must watch.
I had never seen this film before (any rendition of it) but had always loved the music. Suffice to say, the movie was good, but I will most likely not watch it again (unless someone else plays it) But I will still always love the music! ^_^
Good Cast, Very Good Adaptation of Webber's Phantom of The Opera but I like the Stage Musical version Better!
Do we really need a movie? This has been on Broadway for, what, six hundred years?
Very nice--in fact, EXTRAORDINARY--take on the musical performance,, even though lacks in story--gotta blame the novel for that-- but still awesome.. One of the memorable moments in movie history

The plot is impressively free of anything that does not smell of unpasteurized melodrama.full review
Takes everything that's wrong with Broadway and puts it on the big screen in a gaudy splat.full review
It's a shamelessly over-the-top wallow in romantic obsession, and a thoroughly enjoyable one.full review
Schumacher has bravely taken aboard this dreck and made of it a movie I am pleased to have seen.full review
A flamboyant failure, unwilling and/or unable to open itself up to anyone who wasn't totally in love with the show already.full review
The screen version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical lacks both authentic romance and the thrill of memorable spectacle.full review
On its own terms, the film is just about perfect. Viewers who accept it on those terms will be swept away.full review
I'm more inclined to suggest that it be used to entertain the prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo -- at least until Amnesty International gets wind of it.full review
