Breslin was born in New York City, the son of Kim, a personal manager, and Michael Breslin, a telecommunications expert. Spencer is the older brother of actress, Abigail Breslin (b. 1996).

He has appeared in blockbusters such as Disney's The Kid, The Santa Clause 2, The Cat in the Hat and Zoom.
