Although Weaver has played a number of critically acclaimed roles in movies like The Ice Storm, Dave, and The Year of Living Dangerously, she is perhaps best known for her appearances as Warrant Officer/Lieutenant Ellen Ripley in the blockbuster "Alien" movie franchise.
