Pauline McLynn was born in Sligo, Ireland but was raised in Galway where
she was educated Murcy Nuns convent school and Trinity College Dublin where she
studied English and History of Art. She got a Masters Degree but decided to pursue
an acting career. She is probably best known for her role as Mrs Doyle in the the
television programme 'Father Ted' yet she has many other sucesses. She also appears
in the Films Gypo and Angelas Ashes and in other television programmes including the
recent... ... (read more...) ly sucessful Jam and Jerusalem. As well as her acting career she has also
established herself in the literary world with popular books that include 'The Women
on the bus' and 'Something for the weekend'. She is also an active member of several
theatre companies and is a patron to the charity 'World Vision' She is married to
the producer and Agent Richard Cook.
