Although he got his first break in an off-broadway production, Gene Wilder didn't waste time getting famous for his often ridiculous, over the top, and always always memorable characters. He frequently works with Mel Brooks, perhaps most famously in "Young Frankenstein", which earned him an Oscar nomination for the writing.
