Let me know if you read Midnight's Childlren. I slogged through it a couple of years ago. Rushdie is just a wee bit too out there for me. I don't think I'm smart enough or well-educated enough to get the many levels of his literature!!

interesting informative book on economics for the curious layperson
great book, but felt it needed a good editor. it was just too long. i loved the inside look at bombay, the gritty look at prison and underworld life and the wisdom the character earns. but there are sections that could have been trimmed down.
great collection by a quintessential newsman and writer in the jimmy breslin, hemmingway style. good stuff.
must read for anyone interested in business. whatever stones critics may throw at walmart, walton should be recognized as one of the great american entrepreneurs of the 20th century. herein is walton's story in his own folksy, homsepun, straight-talkin' style. much to be learned here about business, management and the history of american retail.
one of the best books i have ever read. i found 3 cups of tea inspiring but this is even more so. profound, moving, will make you rethink how you are spending your life.
very good book, but cannot compare to O'Brien's masterpiece -- Things They Carried.
stone's powerful first novel is a characteristic melange of right-wingers, political intrigue and paranoia, drugs, poverty and a deeply spiritual yearning. it is as relevant today as when it was written more than 30 years ago, a testament to stone's vision.
what is most captivating is his dazzling writing, intense spiritual vision, powerful dialog and deep insights. the evocation of new orleans is accurate and immersive. as with future stone novels, the reader himself may feel like they are in a hall of mirrors as they try to puzzle it all out, but this is part of the challenge Stone throws out to his audience.
one of the most powerful and important american writers of the last 50 years.
good basic book, with lots of interesting anecdotes, about public speaking by former Reagan speechwriter.
i am a huge robbins fan but did not finish this one. not sure if that is because i had just read three robbins' in a row or 'cos it wasn't as good.
i prefer jitterbug perfume and fierce invalids to this one.
