Sorry, but isn't he description above the synopsis of Vote for Larry? Hmmmm. . .
Back story was great, characters and humor were still in fine form. It really is a shame. The author has turned this other wise enjoyable series' latest book into an unsubtle rant about the most in-vogue crisis of our time, global warming. I don't like being preached at. I find it most repugnant when such preachiness enters Literature and other entertainment vehicles. One can no longer read for enjoyment, it seems there must always be an agenda. The author doesn't present the issue in ground-breaking terms either. Sorry, Al Gore beat you to it, James Patterson. I really do wish he'd just made this another book in an what would've been an enjoyable and timeless series, but is now one of those books that, in about 10 years, will be as dated as heck. Too bad, the back story was actually okay.
Incredible, and has just joined my list of favorite books along with Owen Meany and the like. I'd say it's superior to Kite Runner, and simply and an amazing read that makes you think and feel along with the characters. Perhaps it's because I'm a girl, but I really felt strongly about the messages in this book and the things women still face today in this society.
Slightly disappointed actually, but I just finished so my opinion may change. At this point, I agree with another reviewer who felt it was just too long for considering its content. Perhaps I set my expectations too high as well, I don't know.
A hysterical book, though peppered with what I would definitely refer to as "13 year old boy humor." Nonetheless, a worthy read, if you're willing to take some of the male adolescent humor.
Love this author and her book other book "Fever." "Speak" is far superior to "Catalyst", and is just simply an amazing book about a teen shunned at her high school, because of circumstances far outside of her own control. Circumstances which she has left unspoken.
Okay, so the cover is just so-so, but this book(like I haven't said this about a book before, but it's so true!) is amazing! Love it, one of my favorite L'Engle's. It's truly a beautiful book, beautiful style, and a lovely narrator. To testify to this book's greatness, this novel was recommended to me by a complete non-reader. If someone who detests the written word can fall for this book, it's a testement to the greatness of the writer, and to the work itself.
Quite frankly, this book needs no introduction. This novel was refused by numerous publishers, but when finally accepted, won the Newbery and became a classic. I got this from my 4th grade teacher and still have the same copy. My favorite L'Engle book along with A Ring of Endless Light. Everyone should read this book,it's fantastically written, with an amazing story and equally intriguing characters. Love it!!! L'Engle's probably my favorite author, and it's a shame not more homage is paid to her today.
Hilarious 1st person narrative by a girl stuck inside of a video game.(Oh Lord, if I just read that description, I'd run from this book like there's no tomorrow) I digress, I'm a horrendous book describer, but this book is hysterical and one of the first I pull off my shelf when I need something to read before bed.
Love this book, one of those books which sound stupid when I try to descibe it, but please read it. Another discovery thanks to my 8th grade English teacher.
