Neuromancer (Ace Science Fiction)
William GibsonMeh. From what I could - or was motivated enough - to follow of the story behind the intense jumble of cyberpunk imagery (and oh boy, was that piled on thick!), it's a not-very-compelling mess. I actually found the Armitage subplot the most interesting one, and, of course, just my luck, that was jettisoned without much of a resolution. Meh. From what I could - or was motivated enough - to follow of the story behind the intense jumble of cyberpunk imagery (and oh boy, was that piled on thick!), it's a not-very-compelling mess. I actually found the Armitage subplot the most interesting one, and, of course, just my luck, that was jettisoned without much of a resolution. Of course, it's possible that Neuromancer has been copied so many times that the original no longer blows away. I'll give it that benefit of the doubt, but overall, I'm not glad I took the time to read it. (show less)

The Gun Seller
Hugh LaurieHugh Laurie must be the last guy left on the planet who knows how to write a thriller. Any other "thriller" I've read in the last 10 years is just a carbon copy of a carbon copy of a carbon copy, none of them at all thrilling. The Gun Seller is also funny as hell. Every single sentence is a gem. It's awesome. You miss a good thriller - this one's for you.
