I appreciate the easy to comprehend interpretation of the Bible, but always when authors try too hard to make it simple for kids, they don't fulfill the dramatic tone of the story. The acopolyspe and armageddon in Revolution is heavy stuff, but the casual plain-talk represented is better off at a cocktail party. I'm not telling other authors out there to lay the material down so heavy it gives kids nightmares. When two authors write a book it's hard to pick just one tone. I still recommend th... (show more)

The acopolyspe and armageddon in Revolution is heavy stuff, but the casual plain-talk represented is better off at a cocktail party. I'm not telling other authors out there to lay the material down so heavy it gives kids nightmares. When two authors write a book it's hard to pick just one tone. I still recommend this book for elementary and middle school. Because of the suspense, I read twenty of these volumes. Since it is a Christian novel, there was no good and evil besides God and the Anti-Christ. That created room for some complex characterization with the children and teens going through the Tribulation. I read them in eighth grade and the characters were so real. You should read at least the first six volumes. They are short, so if you don't like them you won't have too much to lose. (show less)

This book was well-paced and it teaches you a lot about your own life. Maybe it's a tad too old for me, but I am interested in foreign cultures. Yes, it was whiney though. The author was over-dramatic about her divorce. But the author was good-humored, outgoing and casual. I like her voice. While others might find it self-absorbed, that all memoirs for you. Richard from Texas cracked me up. But in India, I wish she did more exploring than sitting on her behind all day.

Now that I am finished with the book I can properly review. I think the book should have explained the main character's(Susie's) reaction a little better when she figured out her mom's secret. I liked it for the theme, but the middle was slow. It's philosophical and makes you think, and I like that in a classic. I'm warning you though: it's not for everybody. While it was interesting, it was quite perverted. And it's touching. One part was so disgustingly sweet, it was borderline corny. Overa... (show more)

While it was interesting, it was quite perverted. And it's touching. One part was so disgustingly sweet, it was borderline corny. Overall, I can definately relate to it. I think any body can relate to the universal idea of death and lost. It's good, but just not my favorite. I liked how unpredictable it was, but sometimes it just completely threw me off guard with the perverted-ness. This is something that you have to learn to love to get into it. I thought the youngest character Buckley, was sweet until the end. Therefore, it contains lots of struggle in fictional family. This book is odd, keen, and seductive. It's emotional, but not emotional enough. I've read sadder. It's just that some parts were slow. There were lots of fillers. Love it or hate it, this is not just an ordinary chick book.
