Indian Creek Chronicles: A Winter Alone in the ...
Pete FrommA very interesting book of one mans survival in the back woods guarding salmon eggs for seven months. I especially liked that this man did not seem to embellish through writing what his experience was really like. I can't even imagine spending seven months in utter isolation from the rest of the world by choice, and yet it seems like a part of this book is pulling at my heart strings to consider what an experience like this would be like. I can't even imagine spending seven months in utter isolation from the rest of the world by choice, and yet it seems like a part of this book is pulling at my heart strings to consider what an experience like this would be like. Alas, I will have to be content imagining it and appreciate that Peter has taken this journey for me. This book will make you want to dust off your hiking boots and fluff up your old down sleeping bag. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the outdoors and has a love for nature, hiking, camping and spending quality time enjoying the stillness of being in the back woods. (show less)

Until I Find You: A Novel
John IrvingI always love reading Irving. This book was a very long book and quite deep in nature.
He always delves into so many different subjects and this one is no exception.
He does an incredible job conveying a good message to you. But, along the ride you have to endure all of the bad that man does. There are scenes that are disturbing, provocative and a lot of narcissism takes place.
I guess it's necessary to endure those things to really hit home the message.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I have read many of Irving's books, and although this is not my favorite, I have to give this book high marks.
The book is upsetting at times and not for the wimpy reader.
I will put it up there with my collection of Irving books as another great!
It reminds me that all things somehow in life interact with the final outcome. That everything we go through has some little effect on everything else. Kind of like a huge puzzle, where in the end the final piece is put in place and you see the whole thing and think, wow!I (show less)

Water for Elephants: A Novel
Sara GruenLoved this book. From the minute I opened it, until the very last page, I could not put it down.
This book is about what life must have been like during the depression era while working for the circus.
Of course there are twists and turns along the way to keep the reader engaged. I really appreciated how Sara Gruen would go back and forth from modern day to depression era and it seemed seamless.

Her characters were very believable and well developed. I felt swept away, like I was there as a firsthand witness.
I love the suspense, mystery and details. I had never really given much thought to the circus, but am sure that there are many wonderful story's to be told.
The author did a great job interjecting humor, yet kept the serious scenes serious. There is love, lust, compassion, and suspense.
I would recommend this book to others. It's a quick read and highly enjoyable. (show less)
